Saturday 15 May 2021 4:30am

In advance of public hearings commencing on Monday 17 May 2021, the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence has today published 30 submissions received from the public.

Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Commission, Ms Elizabeth Langdon said, “the submissions process provides an opportunity for individuals and organisations to share their knowledge and expertise on issues related to the Commission’s terms of reference.”

“We thank members of the community who have gone to the effort of making a submission so that their views are heard,” she said.

While the Commission’s preference is to make all submissions public, this is not always possible due to reasons such as the author’s preference for the treatment of their submission, the need to protect the identity of the author or other individuals, or for legal requirements. There have been 46 submissions received to date.

The Commission is continuing to accept public submissions past the initial closing date of 26 April 2021.

Public submissions received in the coming weeks will continue to be published on the Commission website when appropriate. Members of the public wishing to make a submission can find out more information at www.rccol.vic.gov.au/submissions.

To provide the greatest possible opportunity for people to engage with the Commission, relevant documents have been translated into eight languages support engagement with multicultural communities.

Information is available in Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese (Mandarin), Traditional Chinese (Cantonese), Greek, Italian, Hindi and Punjabi from the Commission’s website www.rccol.vic.gov.au/community.
